The Modern Superstitions (Cheesy Ghost Edition), off Queen St. West, Toronto

The "White Night" festival was lovely. This blog post is an art installation. Right now I am projecting it onto a man wearing a white suit climbing a ladder against a blue screen. It is being made to look like he is ACTUALLY against a bombed out church. Then I twitter that.

Damn you Jet lag. I return to my home of gray. I return to the future birthplace of my stress induced stroke; and I find myself missing the color of the sky in a Toronto fall. Also, I missed a friend’s birthday, totally forgot about my roommate David’s birthday, and couldn’t get in touch with my mother on my parent’s wedding anniversary. I love Toronto.

Nuit Blanche was this weekend. Despite my jet lag and knack for waking up at 6:00 AM / waiting for my friends to wake up so I can forget to call them -I went to Nuit Blanche. For ONE night a year Toronto becomes Europe. For 12 or so magical hours bizarre projections, open-late bars, and intoxicated teenage peoples are outside looking at art and socializing. This is Europe, where the city is art and everyone is out drinking, bumping into old friends or walking with a loved one.

The focus this year was on interactive exhibits which are visible to large masses of people. I hate people who don’t know how to be in groups of people. When Toronto is forced to be something it isn’t used to; you get some growing pains. This translates to binge drinking, a mysterious shortage of Magic Mushy Rooms among casual users and coke head introverts screaming directly at strangers they wouldn’t normally e-mail.

I already miss Berlin, she is the wonderful city that is so very ugly but has such a great personality. I love you too Toronto, you yuppie filled sports bar which has been overcome by lush fields of green and protestant designed homes.

Also, I posted photos of "The Modern Superstitions" who played a DJ set at Asian Monsoon and whom I roped up for some photos. They are friends, they are AWESOME - check this band.
